Thanksgiving Day

History of  National Thanksgiving Day:

Thanksgiving Day is mainly connected to the Pilgrims, who have started this before coming to the New World. The Puritans desired to remove all the days of remembrance, feast, and many others and celebrate Thanksgiving Day only. It is said that the Native Americans taught the pilgrims to grow their crops and basically to adapt to the New World. Thanksgiving Day is originated from there.

Is Walmart open on Thanksgiving Day?

This is the most asked and the most concerned question on Thanksgiving Day. President and CEO of Walmart John Furner announced that Walmart would be closed on Thanksgiving Day. He advised everyone to enjoy this Thanksgiving with families at home. But whenever the Walmart is open, the Walmart Thanksgiving Hours are usually 8 am-8 pm.

In addition to that, many stores are reluctant to open on Thanksgiving Day, but some would open on Thanksgiving.

Celebration of Thanksgiving Day:

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated to thank for the harvest and other blessings of the past year. It is meant to pay gratitude for the year that has passed and welcome the new year with joy. It has some religious value in earlier times, but now it has become more of a secular day that is celebrated without the consideration of religions, caste, and creed.

Thanksgiving is celebrated by spending time with family members and friends and being thankful for the people and things in life. Typically, it is celebrated all around the world by having a big meal. Almost all family members are invited.

While planning your Thanksgiving Day, you can make a list of all the family members and friends beforehand so no one lefts behind at the last moment. Call them to be sure of their presence because they may have some other plans to celebrate this day. You can assign each member a dish that he/she will bring with him/her for your convenience. But do keep in mind that the turkey needs to be served by the host only.

In the US, this day is celebrated by arranging a large feast and thanking everyone before starting with it. It creates a healthy and joyous environment. Turkey holds the central place in the meal and, other components include corn, Hot Chocolate, Ham, Pie, and much more. The family may break the turkey wishbone during the meal and, whoever receives the larger end of the turkey is granted a wish.

To honor Thanksgiving, large festivals and parades are held in various cities. The most famous of them is Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The parade begins in the morning and goes down Central Park West to Macy’s Herald Square on 34th street. It started in 1924, and over two million people attend the parade annually. It is the second-oldest Thanksgiving parade.

On this day, the houses are decorated as a symbol of glory. The Thanksgiving decorations are loved and appreciated by all. These include Thanksgiving Crafts, Cards, and much more. Thanksgiving Cards are exchanged on this day to thank each other.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!
